A paving stone in Jazz
Collignon & Gleizes duo
Médéric Collignon, the most unclassifiable musician originating from the New French Jazz Scene, is also one of the most talented. His collaboration on several projects - like Andy Emler's Mégaoctet, ONJ directed by Paolo Damiani, Jean-Louis Pommier's quintet, Ratz co-directed with Thomas de Pourquery - has shaped his style. And has developed his taste for music - from new orleans to free, from salsa to reggae, from rock to rap and modern. Techniques, standards and ego superseded, Collignon finds his voice and his calling in improvisation.
Backed-up in the past, in his creator's quest by Bernard Lubat, Michel Portal, Louis Sclavis, Claudia Solal and Lê Duy Xuân from the formation « La Théorie du Chaos », this musician in his thirties can now devote himself to the exploration of total improvisation. Solo or as a duo with drummer Philippe Gleizes on stage in Toulouse of the Théâtre du Pavé. In the packed venue the killer duo is methodically breaking their shells and letting go of their inhibitions, a mind-boggling show. With Collignon deconstructing his voice with a set of effects pedals.
Together with Gleizes, they go on an adventure, jump from one style to the other, getting lost on a neuronal crossroad, dive into the heart of dead-ends. Whatever it is they do, they play, they make their music happening, Elixir of life, of madness.
