Jean-Michel Jarre 'Oxygène Part IV' Jean Michel Jarre had a lot of difficulties to release this album because it had no words and no real single. However he met the success and the track Oxygene Part IV was finally released as a single, becoming one of the most famous electronic theme.
Several parts of the album will be used for different ads. Oxygene Part IV will appear in the credits of Basket radio show on Europe 1.
This melodic and aerial album contrats with the electronic productions of that time like Kraftwerk’s industrial sound or Tangerine Dream’s cosmic sound, opening electronic music to a larger audience.
In 1997, Jean Michel Jarre composed Oxygene 7-13, same style and same instruments with more modern electronic instruments.
In 2007, Jean Michel Jarre rerecorded his album with the same instruments but in a more modern studio.
